Money can be scarce in college and food can often drop to the bottom of the totem pole of priorities. Whether it’s eating Ramen for a week, or taking extra snacks from an event at the clubhouse, we’ve all been there. Just because you don’t have money to blow doesn’t mean your dating game should suffer. With fall, aka Cuddle Season, in full swing, we can bet you and your significant other are going to want to explore the town for date night. Here are the top five San Antonio date night spots that will work with your budget.
1. La Gloria
Known for their authentic Mexican street food, La Gloria has two locations, and the atmosphere and scenery will not disappoint. With a patio looking right over the San Antonio River, string lights provide the perfect touch of romance at night. Their tacos are very affordable too! You can stick to the traditional variety or spice it up and try something different like Ceviche, Mole or signature Molcajete. If you are of age, they are well known for their authentic and truly delicious margaritas!
2. Chris Madrid’s
What’s a date night without a greasy burger joint? Chris Madrid’s has been a local San Antonio spot for over 30 years and after you try one of their burgers you will understand why. They offer a variety of specialty burgers all covered in cheddar cheese. Save money by splitting one of their giant MACHO burgers with your date.
3. The Block
“What do you want to eat?”
“I don’t know, what do you want to eat?”
We all know that conversation well and The Block is the perfect answer. If you and your date are not sure what you’re in the mood for, the Block is the perfect place for you. This food truck park has a variety of food trucks with a big bar, outdoor patio, and live music. You’ll also save money on gas because it’s located right across the street from campus!
4. Kona Grill
The sleek atmosphere at Kona Grill provides the perfect date night ambience. Featuring Asian fusion cuisine, this restaurant is an all-time favorite date night spot because their happy hour specials are out of this world. Stop by Monday through Friday from 3 -7 or 9 -11 for half-off sushi rolls, flat breads and signature dishes and deals on margaritas and sake bombs. At Kona, you’re definitely getting a good bang for your buck!
5. The Luxury
If you’re looking to get away from campus, try this awesome and hip restaurant. With views of the river and downtown, The Luxury is one of the trendiest places in San Antonio. With a food truck chic feel, both their kitchen and bar are imported shipping containers. This chef-inspired haute cuisine menu isn’t lengthy but it has just the right amount of things to keep you coming back for more. We hear their fries can almost feed up to three people and are immaculate. Fancy fare at not-so-fancy prices make this place a must-see!
